Tiki Bar Crawl (San Francisco)

Tiki Bar Crawl 2003

Tiki Bar Crawl 2004

Idaho Trip 2003

This is where it all started

For the third year in a row my buddy Mig Ponce has sponsored a Tiki Bar Crawl for all of those Tiki Bar aficionados and the various curious people who have no idea what to expect.

Rally Call

Meier's wedding was the last time I saw these guys, but we stepped right up to the plate and were ready for a wild evening ahead of us.

The Tiki Bowl of Love

Meier Ali and I sharing this beautiful bowl of liquid love. They were the ones I started the night with and the ones I managed to go home with. Kind kinky huh?

You can DO it!!!!

Keep going. Don't stop now, there is another bowl to follow this one.

Everyone grab a bowl and suck it up!!!

Wendy from Vermont

Along our crawl various people are pulled into the spirit of the crawl. Here Gareth and I are persuading a beautiful young woman to leave her birthday party to join the rest of us at the next bar along the way. . . . She actually came later on. That just goes to prove how intoxicating the Tiki gods can be. ;)

More strangers along the crawl

Here I am trying to persuade these ladies to take their birthday party on the road with us. Seeing as they were "batting for the other side," my tools of persuasion weren't as effective as they have been in the past, but I showed all of my Irish charm regardless.

Special drinking tool for the virticaly chalanged.

Here is Meier attempting to drain a bowl of "god knows what" with a 5 foot straw.

Where the hell is that cab?

Parking took 45 minutes and another 20 minutes to flag a cab down once we started drinking!!!

In line at the final bar

We finally found a cab and made it to our final Tiki Bar destination Here I am with Marianne (Molly) of the three Gilligan's Island Babes. They always said that Marianne was the hottest babe on the island . . . I would have to agree.

Sloth, Ginger, Lovey and Gramps

Here Geoff and I are pouring on the charm with two of the other Gilligan's Island Babes; Aimee and Jill.

Gramps with Molly and Aimee

To bad I live in Seattle and you live in the Bay area. I had a lot of fun hanging out with you three. I'll talk to Evan about you girls next time I am down there.

Gareth and Evan joining the fun.

You girls are going to have to come up to Seattle for the Tiki Bar Crawl here.

Damn it!!! She has a boyfriend!!!

But did that stop me from a little harmless flirtation . . . hell no!!! Molly you are awesome. And quite impressive with the way you took control of those Jäger shots. Seattle needs a woman like you . . . ok I need a woman like you. ;)

Sloth where are your hands?????

Monte will have to do introductions because I don't remember their names.

Monte on the other hand was well acquainted with at least one of them.

Sir Montague and Gramps

Monte did very well by the end of the evening. You met a keeper. I hope it works out for you buddy.

If this was St. Paddy's day we would be singing "Whiskey in the Jar."

Keith don't even think about it, she is eyeballing the guy behind the camera. (Monte)

Gramps cutting into Kweefe's action

Kweefe working his magic

Unfortunately his wand was a little off that night. ;) In respect for poor Keith we'll not be showing the prize he ended the evening with.

However, this shot was taken just before he met TBC II (aka "coyote ugly")

Michelle "Humuhumu" Whiting; a fellow Seattleite

She's a cutie, but I was occupied elsewhere for most of the evening. ;) She seems like a very cool woman. We've exchanged e-mails so hopefully we'll connect for a few Tiki adventures with mutual friends here in Seattle.

Mig's girlfriend Cathey

She was quiet and sober, but some how managed to stay the life of the party.

More of Cathey

What a couple.

Can you imagine taking that home to mother?

Sloth and Monte getting a good start on the evening.

The party rages

Gramps rages!!!!

I managed to hold off my hang over till mid day Sunday . . . when the Mai Tais finally wore off.

This was just half of the room. The whole place was elbow to elbow people.

Baby Jane (aka, Gigi D'Vine), one of Mig's fellow work mates from the Burlesque show.

You just have to admire the ingenious use of her assets.

Ali and Gareth

Dancing the night away.

Another one of Mig's friends who traveled to San Francisco for the crawl.

Mig myself and god knows who else?

The evening is coming to an end, but Gramps still manages to step into Sloth's action.

Don't I look at home here?

Mig you are the master party planner. If you ever get married I want to be at that reception . . . heck I want to be at the Bachelor party!!!!

Drink Drank DRUNK!!!!

Drink, Drank, Drunk, DRUNKER

Now that is a way to end an evening. (Obviously this sobered me up rather quickly)

Andréa and I met on the sidewalk outside of the last bar. We only talked for 10 minutes, but hit it right off. Andréa even joined Meier, Ali and I for dinner the next night at Nola's in Palo Alto. Cool Cajun place. Andréa, you are sweet woman and I hope I get the chance to see you again.

Next Tiki Bar Crawl in Seattle

Ok I am the first to admit that Seattle truly lacks a decent Tiki or Polynesian Bar scene. However there are a few places that could still provide a great time for everyone. The Lava Lounge and 'Ohana in Belltown are a good starting point. There is also the Luau Polynesian Lounge that might be worth a try, but for really partying down you are only left with two options. Tiki Bob's in Pioneer Square, but that place is filled with a bunch of 21 yr olds or Tiki Joe's Wet Bar in Kirkland, my personal favorite since it is in stubling distance from my house and I know the bar awner. ;)
