My Yamaha 1100 Midnight Special
My summer is usually busy with Surfing, hiking playing with dogs, photography or some sort of event, but my bike is the best part of summer. She may not be a Harley, but for an older classic she is a beauty. |

Surfing the triangle south of Umpqua River Jetty (Summer 2002)
That's the same tower that I stood watch at 13 years earlier. Now here I am getting ready to surf the swell off of the south jetty. I walked out along the jetty and jumpped out into the surf with my board. It was the easiest time I ever had positioning myself out passed the swells. ;) |

Steve & I took a trip to the coast to go surfing (Summer 2003)
Steve was the one who first turned me on to surfing. I started when I was in high school, but they were sad attempts and too few and far between to really count. It wasn't until I got out of the Coast Guard before I really took up the Sport . . . while living in Oregon. Yep most of my surfing has been on the Oregon coast.

You can get a little stir crazy on the hour and a half drive to the coast, but it was well worth it.

Stopped along highway 101 to check out the surf conditions. It's not looking that bad.

We have surfed the Oregon coast for 10 years together. The kids at the surf shop were only 8 or 9 when we started surfing here. Damn Steve you sure are getting old. ;) Don't look at me, I wasn't the one getting carded for my senior citizen discount. |

That's me and my board
We've surfed Seaside's Point and Cove, Guano Rock in north Cannon Beach, Pacific City, Boy Scouts or Cape Lookout, Indian Beach (where they filmed the last scene in Point Break), Long Beach Washington and Westport Washington, but are all time favorite is still Short Sands out in Oswald State Park south of Cannon Beach. We would camp there on a Friday night a lot of times and catch the morning tide then get out of there before the Portland traffic clogged the ride home on 26. |

When you go surfing on the coast modesty goes out the door.

Oney's is a traditional stop for Steve and I on the way back from surfing. There is nothing better than hot chilli and fries after a day of surfing. Oh and we can't forget to watch Steve loose a few games of Keno. ;) |
